Around 706 hectares of Syrah are cultivated in Romania. The variety has adapted particularly well to the warmer southern and southeastern wine regions, where long growing seasons allow the grapes to achieve full phenolic and aromatic maturity.

Important areas include Oltenia, especially the Dragasani Vineyard, as well as Muntenia and its celebrated Dealu Mare vineyard.

Syrah is also successfully cultivated in Dobrogea, near the Black Sea, where warm conditions and maritime influences can contribute to generous fruit, spice and good aromatic definition.

Across these regions, differences in soils, exposure and climate produce a range of styles, from ripe and powerful wines to more elegant expressions with fresher acidity. Romanian Syrah increasingly demonstrates the variety's ability to combine international character with a clear sense of local terroir.
